House Lawmakers Probe Patient Care, Hydroxychloroquine Use, in State Homes For Veterans

House lawmakers pressed top officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs on Wednesday about staff shortages, the lack of covid-19 testing and infection-control lapses at state-run nursing homes for veterans and called on the administration to take a leading role in oversight that’s typically left to the states.

The hearing before the health subcommittee of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee also probed the use of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine at a home for veterans and their spouses outside of Philadelphia.
